Noted and thanks for the FYI -- both Tom and I are mislead by the naming of the record certificate that right on it, says World Record, but the event is sanctioned by the SCTA, not the FIA. The FIA sanctioned the Talladega events in 1986 and 1996, and those are indeed World or International Records.
Regardless of what the records are called, it's an achievement that never comes easily, and sometimes never.
Congrats to Tom on with the bigger engine class record, that's big in and of itself -- the Milwaukee Midget will have to come back to challenge that one next year. As I recall, his speed in the smaller J engine class was better than what the Milwaukee Midget was -- that is not so unusual, in the smallest engine displacement classes.
