I’ve been retired since May 2015 but need to get back to work so I can pay cash for my kids to go to college (no loans, no home equity or 401(k) raids, etc.)
I’ve recently been offered an amazing job at way more than I expected to earn but it’s about 520 miles away from where I live. I do not, however, plan to relo the family and would ‘commute’ by air every week (or drive it rarely). They offer a four-day work week so I’d have a 3-day weekend very week.
Airfare would be ~ $150/week if purchased well ahead and the company offer includes a sign on bonus that would easily pay for my airfare for more than a year.
Has anyone done this kind of arrangement before? There would be the expense of having a house at home and a crash pad of sorts at the work location. Need to maintain this arrangement until June 2020 when the youngest son graduates from high school.
Any lesson learned / advice is appreciated. TIA.
