Well......North American buyers didn't appreciate hatchbacks, wagons, feared turbo-chargers, were cool to four cylinder engines and FWD in a lux veh, and were oblivious to vehicle safety for a long period of time. The final nail was reliability .... check Consumers Reports or similar and any mainstream buyer would stay away. They should have offered a longer warranty to mitigate that issue since hindsight tells us all they needed was a few shelves of rebuilt throttle bodies and a few skids of DI's, CPS's, heater valves and replacement emblems at their main warehouse to satisfy the masses. On a more positive note, they are still quite competitive with any sedan on the lot today in spite of it being almost 25 years since the first sketch was put on the drawing board. Save Our Saabs!
