I did not realize that Carproof has changed, though yes, it seemed that it was better than Carfax, but does not catch everything. Eg, we bought an accident free 9-5, but there was evidence of very minor front end damage (bad fog light and some ripples in the front bit of the front quarter panel under the headlight. It's no big deal, and it was otherwise mint, but it didn't appear in the carproof.
I would do a thorough check over the car yourself and ideally have it looked at by an independent mechanic that knows that type of car well.
