This is why I don't like owning new cars. It all started when my diesel jeep has a low speed engine stumble, I bring it to the dealer, under warranty, for repair. He calls and wants $1000 to change the fuel filters (2) and to do a fuel injector cleaning. He wants to take apart the throttle body and clean out the plates because they carbon up like crazy and clean the injectors. Sounded too much like the old days when the dealer would charge $100 and throw a $10 can of stuff into the gas tank. I don't know much about diesels, but I didn't like what I was hearing. Oh, I forgot to mention the $300 for diagnosing. He said his tech had a hard time connecting the computer to the emc to read the codes. I know I will be paying the $300 and for the filters, but the injector cleaning was a bridge too far. And none of it under warranty. I really like the truck, but its the only jeep dealer around. Am I going to have to bring it to a diesel mechanic first and if its warranty item then bring it to the dealer for repair? Just needed to rant a little.
(2014 Grand Cherokee diesel, and I have the chrysler 8 year max care warranty)
