First of all, the words professional painter and orange peel don't go together!
The guy that paints my cars is an auto restorer. He usually rebuilds cars from the ground up. However, he always takes in the collision jobs for the extra money. Most professioal painters take these jobs because the insurance pay out is pretty good! You'll be hard pressed to find someone that doesn't take them.
The person that paints my car told me a story. He had a chevy cavalier that was in the shop being repaired after someone hit every corner with a sledge hammer. I asked him how he can match the factory paint with orange peel. He told me that he waits until Friday night to paint it. He drinks down about 6 beers and then puts it in the paint booth. Then he gets about 3-4 feet back and just starts spraying like a wild man.
This is the only way he can paint like crap.
If you really care about your car you should have a professional repaint the entire car to get rid of the orange peel completely! This is what I did to my car and you can tell the difference.
