Safety and engine questions from latest "Nines"

I know I'm risking getting blasted for talking safety and engines, but here goes.
I was reading through the latest issue of "Nines" (#248), and I have a couple of questions for anybody in the know out there.
There's a letter on page 7 from a guy who rolled his 9-3 on the highway. Is it me, or does the roof seem to caved in on the right side, between the B- and C-pillars? The A-, B-, and C-pillars are supposed to form a roll cage, and the damage looks like it's at the metal between the pillars. In the top-view photo, it looks like the B-pillar might have given way. Saab used to do tests where they would drop a car upside down onto concrete from a height of 2 meters, without roof intrusion. Do they still do this? The other concern is that he says he couldn't open his door, even though most of the damage seems to be on the passenger side. Didn't Saab doors have a reputation for rarely being jammed?
I do realize that the roof issue could just be the angle of the photos, and the door jamming could be a fluke (or he even could've forgotten to unlock it in a post-crash mental haze). I'm just asking for some info.
As for the engine, the last page says that the SCC engine was built up from an existing GM engine, the way the 9-3 is built from a GM platform. Does anybody know if the production SCC engine will be based on the GM engine, or a Saab engine?
Thanks,
Roger
