Too bad GM doesn't import some Holden
cars to the USA! Maybe they are not
set up to build them with l.h. drive.
It remains to be seen to what extent
GM will dilute SAABs with lower quality
components. So far the history has
been mixed. The GM900 V-6s were a
disaster, clearly because they were
hurried to market with inadequate
engineering. On the other hand, the
asymetrically turbocharged V-6 in
the 9^5 has been a success, depsite
the block being sourced from outside
SAAB, because the SAAB engine designers
have made it their own.
The best approach for SAAB enthusiasts
will probably be, first, don't buy any
new SAAB product in its first year of
release, and, second, if a new product
checks out okay for overall performance,
quality and SAAB character, then don't
worry too much about how the raw parts
are sourced.
