Oldsmobile gone. Is SAAB next? (rantings)

GM said they just couldn't justify keeping around a division only selling 300,000 units a year. SAAB is looking at what? 125,000 unit this year? If they don't want to keep the Alero around, a car that shares everything but those grotesque body panels with the Grand Am what makes anyone think they'll bother keeping the 9-3 or 9-5 around when they share even less with Opel? Car and Driver said, "We have no idea why anyone buys a Grand Am when the Alero is available."
I myself live for only 2 cars lines. Oldsmobile and SAAB. I am heartened by the lack of unnecessary flaming comments on this board. I think (and I could be way off on this) most SAAB owners would never be interested in an Olds but no one on this BB has made a point to ridicule or insult the now saddened fans of Oldsmobile. I think that says alot for the mentality of a SAABer.
I work with a fellow who is a Hondadite and he sent me a few posting form one of his BB. They were full of laughter and joy ripping the cars and anyone dumb enough to buy them to shreds as if they were going to get a parts discount for the most vulgar comments. I, white hot mad, made a posting that we had V8 powered gods of speed while your little S500 was still chain driven and lacked syncros on the transmission. They replied with personal insults. Oh well.
Coolknight made a comment about making room for more SAABs to be sold. Maybe. A few weeks back when GM brought in the new head design guy they stole away form VW he stated they wanted to get SAAB up to 300,000 units in the next 5 years. That would make a lot of you quite happy I'm sure. As long as they kept them SAABish.
For me though, it would be like murdering my father so I can spend more time with my mom.
