Our family has had nothing but good luck with Oldsmobiles...
My brother had a 1989 Cutlass Supreme coupe 3.1L V6, got to 192,000 trouble-free miles before trading in, car looked great except for worn-out interior
I had a 1986 Olds Calais which was the perfect college car 2.5L Fuel-injected Iron Duke with 115 hp. I regularly got 35 mpg on the highway with a 3spd automatic. Only a minor electrical problem and a slight water-leak got me to 85,000 miles before trade-in.
Then I drove a 1986 Olds Calais with the Quad4 150 hp 3spd automatic. Much more pep, had darkened brushed aluminum interior trim (perhaps ahead of its time?). Sure it sounded like a dish-washer but besides a gasket change and a bad power window switch, I got to 104,000 miles before it got rear-ended. It was running very well. The huge van hit me at 40 mph and I had only minor whiplash.
May Oldsmobile rest in peace.
I may someday get an early 90s Toronado or late 60s Toronado as a classic. They are beautiful cars.
