15 years is a lot of years in car years. My 96 900SE is in a another world of technology and seems to be built as well or better than my '93 900S Convertible. Old and funky is sorta' easier to be fond of than new and funky. People still love their old VW bugs too.
I'd never want a classic 900 with an automatic, only three speeds and no sport setting, but my 96 900SE has a state of the art 4 speed auto with sport setting a major turbo power.
I do like the bigger seats in the old 900.
Then and now, Saab builds a very high quality car. Sheetmetal, leather, plastic, carpet and mats, trim are all as good as it gets including much more expensive brands. My biggest fear is that the new 03 9-3 will slip a notch towards Opel quality, but that's not what I've heard so far. Reports are it's up to snuff.
