I would NOT do this! I imported a US Spec car to France and it was a nightmare. The Control Technique process takes quite a long time. My case took over a year. There are multiple inspections at which your questions are never fully answered. The first time I took my car there I was given a list of modifications to make:
1: Change to EU lights
2: Imstall read fog light
3: Install a "Plague Constructor" (sp?) This I needed to special order from Honda France, but first I needed to FAX them the specifics of the engine in my car which I needed to get from Honda USA.
4: Remove lateral reflectors
Then after this was done another trip to the Control center. Where they promptly told me that my auto still did not satisfy them and a special permit was needed. This was due to the fact that an EXACT model of Honda that I had (CIVIC VX) was not sold in France. They never told me this info on the first visit to the control center. I could have saved a month or so of waiting if they did...but they didn't. Also they mail you the appointment time for the inspection, go then or call for another appointment. Oh and BTW you may have to wait up to a month for an appointment. The people in charge of the whole process don't give a damn how long you have to wait, and are hard to get in touch with. And in the end you either pass or fail, if the car fails it must be destroyed or exported. Good luck!
