GrandAm and all transverse V6 engines Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Sat, 16 Apr 2016 17:23:12 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I hate changing the firewall side sparkplugs on transverse V-configuration engines! I spent 3+ hours today replacing 6 plugs, 6 plug wires, and three coil packs on the son's GrandAm. Last time I did the plugs and wires was ~90K miles ago - and I hoped it would be the last time then!
The coil packs may have still been factory original. If so, that would explain why he had a failure to start incident on Wednesday. I don't recall doing these before but I may have. New belt and tensioner too (old tensioner looked original). New alternator and upper idler pulley last month.
My wife and I keep telling him he needs to get a newer car, but he keeps saying not for two more years when he starts Residency and starts making money again.
Tomorrow I will be swapping out the winter tires for the summer performance rubber on my 9-5 Aero (80 degrees here today although yesterday was the first morning above freezing), and changing the front brake pads too. After that I need to rebuild the pool pump.
Aren't weekends supposed to be for relaxing?
