Well I'm not sure the electric grid needs to put it's feet up when evening comes, turn on wheel of fortune, and get 8 hours of sound shut eye to function the next day like us biologically based humans. Daytime demand is much higher than nighttime demand, which is why many utilities offer lower rates at night to encourage more electricity use then and why electric cars and some other appliances offer timers to take advantage of these rates. The electric company would much rather have consistent demand across the day than have to bring plants on and off line to cover changes in demand, and have to build and maintain extra plant capacity that might only been needed during the middle of the day. Electricity consumption overall has actually been going down over the last few years due to better efficiency, so given this and the huge amount of currently underutilized production capacity at night I wouldn't worry about the electric infrastructure anytime soon. Should electric car use increase dramatically, it will not be overnight and if more resources are needed they can be built (there are certainly worse problems for companies to have than more demand for their product).
