In Michigan the registration fee is based on orig sticker Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Thu, 4 Aug 2016 14:16:38 In Reply to: Careful what you wish for--911, No Snaab, Thu, 4 Aug 2016 04:21:52 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Of course anyone who can afford to buy a Porsche 911 new is immune from this budgetary consideration.
My 16 year old Viggen convertible, which I bought for under $7K, and which I drive only about 3K miles per year, is the single most expensive car in our household for registration fees because the original sticker was over $45K. Michigan does not have any significant auto registration discount until a car is 25 years old, and then you are limited to driving it only to car shows!
Police in the cities along the Woodward Dream Cruise route have caught on to this and any car 'cruising' with an antique plate is likely to be ticketed to produce revenue for the cities of Ferndale, Royal Oak, Clawson, Pontiac, etc.
