Drove the eGolf Posted by Mike Lynch [Email] (#81) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Mike Lynch) on Thu, 18 Aug 2016 09:40:09 In Reply to: Audi A3 e-tron not a BEV, A1-turbo, Wed, 17 Aug 2016 18:24:25 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Test drove the eGolf last night. Volkswagen Kearny Mesa was quite accommodating and knowledgeable, but a little clingy in good old fashioned car sales kinda' way.
So a pretty normal A7 Golf, which is a good roomy thing, just 115hp and 0-60 in 9.5 seconds, but it feels zippier with all the instant torque. Sure the BMW i3 is zippier still and is really futuristic and stylish in every detail as opposed to the almost analog Golf, but almost $20k more?? $29k for the base eGolf vs. $47k for the i3. Actually the SEL version for an extra $5k has nice stuff, nav, bigger 8.5" screen, parking sensors and park assist, leatherette, leather steering wheel, LED headlights, cool blue interior lighting accents, but again $5k more?? Lotsa' storage under the cargo area floor.
