I can't imagine there was much in the way of profits for Saab in the U.S. given the large incentives, notable lease subsidies, and other factors. I leased new Saabs in the 1990s and 2000s and between the at or near 0% lease rates, huge lease incentives, inflated/subsidized residuals, etc. there just didn't seem to be much there as far as potential profits. Additionally, Saab only accounted for a very small portion of overall GM sales here even with its record sales in 2003.
Saab (automobiles) seemed to have pretty much always been a financially precarious company. I'm actually glad GM was there to keep Saab around long enough for me to own/lease a few news ones. I have doubts that it would've survived as long otherwise.
