Subaru is enjoying remarkable growth in the US market - firing on all cylinders, they employ clever and effective marketing - IMO it's asinine and annoying with tagslines like "Love is what makes a Subaru a Subaru" and "dog tested and approved" but it appeals to the masses.
As to the weezy engines - I'm in CO and Subarus are everywhere, Denver is at 5,280 which means the na Subaru engines have 15% less than at sea level and you see them a lot in mtn towns. Only 15% of Subie sales employ the 6 cylinder design.
Expect their sales continue to climb, the Ascent is released mid 2018 and may be powered by their turbo 2.5 which is a well regarded engine.
"Subaru has notched double-digit sales growth every year, with increases above 20 percent in 2012, 2013 and 2014. Sales climbed 13 percent in 2015."
