If the seat belt is not used and the vehicle is operating in a dangerous matter to be involved in an accident, flying body's can make contact with ignition switch shutting it off.
I pulled the dozen keys and pepper spray key chain dangling on my wife, then girlfriend, at a stoplight after she was babbling like you about GM cars and their ignition problems and it kill the engine. That was the end of that conversation.
