Unlike Saab who had different electronics, infotainment, different ecu/TCU programming of powertrain, the Buick is all GM/Opel. Opel is just now switching to their engines on newly, redesigned vehicles. Even the key fobs are Buick.
Most automakers are required to keep a replacement vehicle available or the less expensive choice is parts availability. The U.S. Federal Law is 10-years after discontinued model.
You should also consider how many miles you will be traveling compared to when working. We have one lease and one purchase to fall back on if mileage on the lease gets out of hand.
