I've had the chance to drive the CLK a bit. It's not really a sports car, which isn't all bad. I thought I wanted a 911 (have for years) but after spending time in my son's, it's not for me. It's fun to drive, but kind of intense. It's not relaxing at all. And it's pretty small. The MB reminds me of a 3/4 scale Bentley Cabrio. It's built like a safe, supremely comfortable and totally relaxing to drive. It's fast enough to be fun but a car you're more likely to just cruise in. It has the feel of effortless speed that I've always liked about Bentleys (though on a lessor scale). You just boot it and it uses torque to just go without downshifting and making a bunch of hoopla. The trans is plenty responsive but it just has this nice sweet spot where it doesn't downshift if you don't want it to. And it has a usable back seat. I just chill when I get in it and I feel very safe. Probably not for everyone but I like the package.
