With a gaseous fuel, the volume of the fuel reduces the amount of air[oxygen] that you can get into the cylinder. The result is lower power.
One good example is the difference in power available in a standby generator. These produce more power and amps when fueled with propane, then when fueled by natural gas which is a less dense vapor that displaces more air. I do not know what the density of gasoline vapor would be, but the fact that it will be a hot vapor also tends to reduce its density.
The above means that the engine will need to be larger and thus heavier.
Low volatility gasoline [EPA issue] has some components that have a higher boiling point. Leave some gasoline in an open metal container and leave outside and note what is left after a month.
