One of my pet peeves is people thinking that a forged piston is still noisy during start up when it doesn't have to be! The 4032 alloy we use for a street turbo application ends up very close to stock Mahle clearances with the added skirt coating we use. Even the 2618 alloy pistons we use in a serious street turbo Saab aren't noisy on start up with the Swain Tech Coatings we like best where we don't include the skirt coating in the actual clearance which makes up for the additional clearance required for the higher expansion rate of a forged piston. The trick here is to finish hone the cylinder bores before the pistons are sent out for skirt coating so we know exactly what the clearance is before the coating is applied as it's thickness can vary a little.
