some carnage.... Posted by jak [Email] (#195) [Profile/Gallery] (more from jak) on Sun, 9 Mar 2014 08:26:34 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
hey there folks I was near the end of a 3 hour drive in my viggen GT3071R and all the supporting goodies ... with the stereo cranked up when I cought a red flicker on the dash... I looked again and it was the oil light... I pushed in the clutch and turned it off and coasted off an exit.... found very little oil in the engine...
got it towed back to the shop and found that one of the crank pulley bolts had backed out and broke all the ears off of the timing cover that retain the pump clip and put a hole in the oil pump
Ill have another timing cover here this week and have it together next weekend I did start it and give a quick listen and it seems fine but Ill check a couple of bearings while I have the pan off to change the cover
I figure Ill blue loctite the bolts on the new pulley just to be safe
I thought the GT ball bearing turbo took a dump (has 140K miles on it) put the oil out the pipe and that it spunn countershaft bearings but I think its going to be Ok :-)
have a great week
