Down side to recall #724?

For the a few months I have been putting off getting recall #724 (T7 engine management computer) performed on my Viggen. My dealer stated that they need the car for hours given that they need to perform “driving tests.”
My information from Saab (recall notice and shop manual) is that "driving tests" lasting hours are not required. In fact no driving test is required. The procedure approximates install the module, program it and if the engine starts you are done. Ok you also have to pull the glove box but in total this job has to be less than an hour.
What is going on? Does the dealer's shop not get enough time behind the wheel of a Viggen?
P.S.
Has anyone noticed a downside to the replacement / programming (newer SW than what shipped from the factory)?
