Is your car an automatic or a stick? I had a similar problem when I would put in the clutch and allowed the RPMs to almost go idle (for example: rolling to a stop light and putting the car in neutral as you roll to the stop). After dozens of "fixes" it turned out to be a faulty cut-off in the fuel line. There was some type of build up in the tank that was causing the problem. Anytime I wanted to stop the car from stalling I would pull over, open the gas tank (get a whoosh sound) and recap the tank. After that the problem would go away until the next time. We finally fixed it with a new sensor of some sort (I really can't remember - this was 8 years ago)
Bottom line: check the fuel line or fuel sensors. Other than that it could be an idle problem, but I am sure that you checked that already.
Good Luck. Hope you solve it.
