The headers are an excellent idea. I'm not familer with the SPG nine heads. The @.3 liter from a 90 to 93 9000 will work as well as 2.1 liter from a 900. The heads are the same except for the cams. I would not up the compression, it's already 10:1. Any higher, you'll need some thing stronger than pump gas. I would look into cams though. I was involved in building a Show room stock 900 in the eighties and we had cams ground for our application through Crain Cams. It worked great, not much if any below three grand, after that, it would pull through 6500. That car was an 8 valve turbo. Another way would be to find adjustable cam sprockets, this would alow you to degree the cams for better performance. Or you could bump the cams up or down 1 tooth with the stock sprockets. This makes a difference. If you bump one way you gain low end, the other way top end is enhanced. I forget which does which.
