Buy an ECU if you want more power/torque. That way you'll get
the best money/power ratio.
I my self own also a 2000 viggen and have tried several different ECU's on it.
I also have dyned my car with BSR/SP ecu and Maptun ECU.
My advice is that stay away from BSR/SP ECU's for viggen if want a healthy running engine. I know BSR/SP ECU is the cheapest, but you should consider is it worth the risk.

And why do I say this?

BSR/SP ECU has tampered knocking sensitivity setting. This software will let your engine to knock. A T7 car should never knock because the knocking is measured by ionization gap sensing. It will detect knock before the sound appears. When I had the BSR/SP Ecu on my viggen it knocked and ECU did nothing about it. Also a experience a very lean A/F under WOT.

Now I have a Maptun ECU, stage III to be exact. The software will adjust knock like it is supposed to do. I ran my car on rollers with high strain for 50 sec, and the ECU dropped the boost of when the engine was about to knock. So the ECU will do just that it is supposed to do. This was not the case with BSR/SP. Under this same test it did not drop boost or adjust timing to enough = engine kept knocking the way one could hear it. Eaven though this Maptun ECU works perfect I will customize it to my personal needs. Maptun has made this possible.
