I installed a Stage 3 BSR in my 2000 9-5 LPT and at first wow, this car was un beleivable. Then the nest week I changes teh BPV and it slowly strated to lose all the added power until it seemed worse than before. It knowcked like crazy ( and had problems starting. I couldn't beleive it and was ready to put it back to stock but then I realized that I put "cheaper" gas in the car ( still rated 93 octane) but from an independant (non-name brand) station - yes I know but they are reputable in my area and gas had gone up 20c since I insalled the thing. As the new (Hess) gas burned in my baby was back. I think the ecu was trying to recalibrate for the lesser quality of fuel and seemed to be retarding spark ( my feeling) to try to scilnece the knock. I know that they say that these things constantly monitor and adjust.
I was wondering if anyone else noticed that gas quality matters this much? I have access to 102 octane race fuel at Sunoco ( 1 mile form my house) and was going to try a few gallons when I get low ( $4/gal) to see if the thing can use all that octane!
