The components as pictured look pristine to me. As Jim said, synchro wear is best judged by comparing measurement to specification. Shift quality and the grinding you note will be affected by the fluid used. If it is too slippery (has too much anti-friction additives for the application), the synchros may not have sufficient braking action and you get grinding; of course the same happens as they become excessively worn. Operator behavior is also a factor--slow gentle shifts improve transmission life.
Redline MTL 75W80 GL4 synthetic is the most widely recommended fluid for V4 transmissions. GL5 fluids contain the higher additive levels and are designed for hypoid gears in differentials, though they are also approved by many mfrs for manual transmissions, and one post from the archives says Ashcraft uses Redline 80W90 GL5, and while if true I don't have the moxie to disagree, I'll stick with the GL4. There's plenty of reading if you search "Redline" etc.
