Do you know of the manufacturing problem with Sachs brand disks? It was first brought to light by Jack Lawrence of Motor Sport Service. It seems this problem surfaced as early as 2009. Go to the following to see the issue:

It seems the rivets were put on the wrong side. You might check this as well.
As to the Haynes manual being wrong...it says in Chap 5 Paragraph 4 Section 7 "...the longer splined hub will face towards the gearbox." That's what's also shown in Figure 5.1.
The Saab Service Manual does not explicitly say in words which way it goes. But it does have the exact same picture showing the longer spline facing away from the flywheel, towards the gearbox. See page 411-1.
I don't have one apart just now to verify, but it does seem that the Haynes manual and Saab Service Manual both show the longer spline facing the gearbox.
Maybe Kansas can confirm? Or tomorrow evening I can check- I've got a couple of motors sitting around...
