I owned a Sonett back in the 80s and am thinking it would make a reasonable mid-life crisis to buy another. I'd like a reality check on parts availability. Do I basically have to look for a parts car if I need a transmission or an engine, are there lots of folks who rebuild stuff?

Also I'd really like to find some tasteful upgrades, just a 100+ hp engine with a better clutch. How possible is this, I know Ashcraft and other advertise this during rebuilds but how common are these? Any body know good v4 repair places in the Midwest/Madison WI area? Should I just get a 900 convertible instead...are parts any better?

This will just be summer only, couple of thousand miles a year car
