No Spark! Hope this helps someone. Posted by Phil Lublin [Email] (#1708) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Phil Lublin) on Sun, 24 May 2015 09:32:10 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hello, last week, after installing a new set of of points into my '74 Sonett, the car simply would not start. To make matters worse, after pulling one of the plug wires, I detected so spark at all. My friend and I were convinced we did EVERYTHING correctly only to discover at the last minute that the spring metal on the points arm was making contact with the interior attachment for the vacuum advance. This was grounding the system out. A temporary solution was a couple of small pieces of electrical tape on the back of the spring metal. Once we did this, the car started perfectly and was timed correctly.
Not sure if anyone else here has encountered similar problems, but I thought I'd share this in the hope it could help someone sometime!
