Worth looking at it if you are truly interested Posted by NCCaniac [Email] (#352) [Profile/Gallery] (more from NCCaniac) on Fri, 12 Jun 2015 10:35:53 In Reply to: Afraid of that, MI-Roger [Profile/Gallery] , Fri, 12 Jun 2015 09:26:07 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Others have covered the main issues to look for. Getting it up on a rack to check out underneath for rust and pulling back the interior floor carpet are all worth doing if the owner does not have recent photos.
If the engine and tranny are in good shape and there is little rust, it may be a good deal. One way to look at it...each year it will be harder to find a Sonett if you really want one. It is always a bit of an adventure to buy a 40 year old car but sometimes you can get a good one.
(Spoken by someone who bought a '71 Sonett III that had been restored and was in driving condition for a good deal, but have since had to put in about $2000 in repairs I did not have the tools, time or space to do myself. But I still enjoy it. :-) )
