Thanks, no it wasn't rebuilt. I took a punt on one that had been checked over. To ship my old Trans back to the USA for a full rebuild and back again was too much $ just in freight.
I will recheck car tomorrow at work, but it could be a fork went but could that be right? If the 1st and 2nd gear fork failed would that also prevent reverse being selected?
Maybe the "knock" that broke the top plate did some more damage
It's quite free (too free selecting 1st and 2nd). Anyway I'll check tomorrow, tow the car home next week and look to pulling the car apart again.
