I bought my Sonett new in 1969 and drove it until August 1983 when I moved to Georgia where lack of a/c is a serious problem. I garaged it and am now having it refurbished for my 16-year-old nephew in Kentucky. If and when he wants another car, the Saab comes back to me; it's a family pet.

You won't believe the traction and ease of handling, and the column shift is a plus as far as I'm concerned. The biggest problem I had was the muffler/exhaust system. The car was so low to the ground that it kept getting banged up and would rust out. A little easier driving would probably have solved that though.

I remember a tongue-in-cheek Saab ad in Newsweek magazine about the time I bought my car. It said: "Saab owners. The lunatic fringe of the American car-buying public." I'd love to have a copy of the ad if anyone saved it.
