I've removed this pulley several times on both 9000 and 9-5 models I've owned. Here are a
few ideas that might help.


1. Don't jam a screwdriver into the starter gear.....a broken screwdriver tip in that area
would make a simple job a monster.

2. Don't briefly crank the engine with a ratchet on the nut.
3. DO.....use an impact wrench to loosen bolt...no need for the special tool. Counter-clockwise
to loosen, and transmission in neutral. I assume that you have the tool to release the belt
tension and remove the belt. If the car has 100K miles or more and the belt has never been
replaced....replace it.

4. Plan on having to replace the crank seal while you have the pulley off. I've done it without
the special tools...just take your time.
