Hi Jacqui,

Well, you have not told us your budget, but the only true recent Saab wagons are the '99-'05
9-5 range or the new 9-2X. The older others '90 - '98 are hatchbacks, which are wagon like,
but not quite as squared off. I'll focus on the 9-5 wagon with which I have some experience.
Firstly there is no real difference mechanically between the sedan and wagon, just the body
from the C pillar back. I had a 2000 9-5 wagon with the 4 cylinder LPT engine and auto transmission.
The car was trouble free for the time I had it, but I found the 4-cyl with auto to be very
rough on idle and rather lethargic in performance (the 4 cyl 'Aero' is much better but more
expensive). As a result I gave this one back to the leasing company at lease end. The same
car with a manual is much nicer. If it is automatic you need, I'd strongly recommend getting
the V6 model with the so called 'Opel' engine. I have a '99 sedan with this engine and much
prefer it to the 4-cyl. Many on this forum will di!

sagree! But, I liked it so much I bought this one ant the lease end! My V6 is now going on
7 years and has 75k miles on it. If you make sure to do the timing belt maintenance at 60k
intervals, this is a reliable engine, much smoother than the 4 and has less turbo lag.

Good luck with finding your Saab, they are great cars and will put a smile on your face ;>).

Hope my information helps.

Regards,

Robert L.
