Totally corroded ignition switch
This is what was wrong. The lock cylinder was likely ok, This switch was frozen solid with corrosion

Now it's out of the car, everything is loose, It must be something else

Holes to release lock cylinder
once I has the switch removed the cylinder rotated easily so that I could push in the release button. 2 holes. The one on the bottom is the one to use.

Cylinder out
Note, no corrosion inside the cylinder, the switch was binding everything up. Now I need 2 keys, one for door, one for start!
