Phase one calls for consolidation of all operations at
Saab of Halfmoon in Clifton Park/Halfmoon
SLINGERLANDS, NY - April 4, 2005 - New Salem Garage, Inc., in conjunction with the manufacturer, Saab USA, has initiated a market restructuring plan to be completed in two phases. At the completion of phase one, scheduled for May 1, 2005, operations at New Salem Saab in Slingerlands will cease and all sales, service and parts operations will be consolidated at the Saab of Halfmoon location in Clifton Park/Halfmoon. The authorized Saab dealership, located one mile east of Northway Exit 9 on Route 146, Clifton Park, will be renamed New Salem Saab of Halfmoon.
Phase two of the market restructuring plan, anticipated to take 36 months or less, calls for all operations to be consolidated at a single new location situated somewhere between the two current dealerships in Slingerlands and Clifton Park/Halfmoon. Locations in Albany (Central Avenue) and Latham (Route 9) are under consideration.
"After operating our two dealer locations for three years, the manufacturer, Saab USA, and I realized that the Capital District market needs one authorized Saab dealership in a more central location to provide more convenient sales and service to all of our clients," said Darryl Carl, president and owner of New Salem Garage, Inc. and its subsidiary companies, New Salem Saab and Saab of Halfmoon. "With the encouragement of Saab USA we chose to temporarily move all of our operations to Clifton Park/Halfmoon because it's a newer facility and is located within the same area of responsibility for the phase two final location. We can also accommodate the anticipated increase in sales, service and warranty work. We have already seen a steady and constant growth in this location."
"We realize that this temporary move may cause some inconvenience for our clients, so we are taking several steps to lessen the impact of the consolidation," said Carl. According to Carl, the service department at New Salem Saab of Halfmoon will be open extended hours on Saturday from 7:00 AM until 5:00 PM. A full technical staff will be available from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM Monday through Friday. Saab owners who find it difficult to travel to Clifton Park/Halfmoon for service and warranty work can schedule a free pickup of their Saab at their home or office. After service or warranty repairs have been made the car will be returned. The loaner car fleet at New Salem Saab of Halfmoon will be more than doubled and a shuttle service commencing at 8:00 AM will be available.
After May 1, 2005, all Saab service and warranty work needs to be scheduled at New Salem Saab of Halfmoon. Appointments can be made by calling 518-665-0200 or clients have the option of making service appointments on line at www.saabofhalfmoon.com.
