SAAB RETURNS TO RALLYING IN 1996 SCCA/MICHELIN PRO RALLY SERIES

NORCROSS, GA - Saab has a long heritage of rally racing, scoring a string of victories from 1950--the Swedish carmaker's first full year of automobile production--to 1980, when the company last officially sponsored a rally car. After a 16-year hiatus, Saab is back in motorsports with a potent 300-hp Saab 900 Turbo Coupe, competing in the 1996 SCCA/Michelin PRO Rally series. Driver Sam Bryan and navigator Rob Walden are campaigning their high-performance Swede in the new-for-1996 Group 5 class. Next stop for Team Saab is the Susquehannock Trail PRO Rally in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania, June 1-2.
