Subject: New Clutch Slipping

I have just replaced the cable operated clutch on my 1994 Saab 900S 2.3I. Sadly the new clucth is slipping. In attempting to locate the problem, I have disconnected the clutch cable and still the clutch slips. The release bearing would appear to be permanently pressing on the release fingers. The English manual (Haynes) I used to guide me when fitting the clutch talked of ensuring that the notch in the clutch cover lined up with the mark on the flywheel but the manual did not show the image of these marks as promised in the narrative. I could locate no marks so fitted the clutch cover to the flywheel in one of the four possible orientations. Can anybody shed any light on the problem or indicate a good source of information. I live in Spain and my nearest Saab agent is 150 Km fom my house. Ian
