My two cents:
Keep refilling the oil resevoir as needed this summer, then have the cylinder replaced in the Fall after convertible season ends.
I would avoid a D-I-Y rebuild kit. I seem to remember the rods in the cylinders can lose their chrome plating, so the seals in the re-build kit will have a very short life. Better to buy professionally rebuilt units, done in a specialty shop, where the rods can be re-plated as part of the rebuild.
