Ok a little late chiming in but here goes, 04 is the first year of this model for the vert IIRC, I have an 04 arc , the tops are better than the last generation as the motors are better , they have a tendency to have the top pistons leak, as I understand it, the seals in the pistons go bad and fluid can leak out, there are 10 in total I think and they cost about $200 bucks per piston plus labor so make sure the top works, unlike old 900 vests they is no manual fail safe for the tops that I am aware of. The engine itself is pretty stout w the exception of the antifreeze overfly tank it is plastic and it gets pretty hot under the hood, this is a pretty cheap fix, I have 94,000 on mine as it is only a summer car, it has held up pretty well. I think the was a official recall on the drivers seatbelt, I think the airbags are not part of the recall at least in mine. They are fun cars and safe but like all saabs you will put some bucks in them.
