There is a 1" hole from below up into the oil pan. It's close to the subframe and it works perfect to use a prybar there and move the engine slightly over to the left allowing just enough space to fiddle the tensioner out with bolt still in the tensioner.
Crankshaft seal should be firm in timing cover so if you could move it with your fingers, it has lost its friction to stay in place. There are some seals out there that shrink with time and come loose all by themselves.
