I hope everything works out for you. I do not like what you say about the crank pulley being more or less stuck. Even a brand new seal would not be able to hug the snout of pulley so hard that you would not be able to remove pulley again.
Hopefully you got the pulley properly lined up on oil pump gear and keyway.
I usually rotate the crank pulley until I feel it goes into the pump gear and then rotate again until I feel it aligns with and slide onto the keyway.
