Can't answer your real question what's wrong but turning/rotating the wheels back and forth will produce a clacking noise from both the little slop that is in the C/V joint, inner drive joint but mostly inside the transmission differential and gears.
Without having done it on multiple cars before and learned what is normal click/clack to un normal C/V joint and inner drive joint wear can be difficult to decipher. My gut feeling is that it might be normal on your car but it does not answer what the noise is that you hear decelerating.
Tire thread separation can create weird feelings in steering wheel and rolling noises and it might not be obvious with a quick look when wheel is still on the car.
