Over the years I have run tires with very similar minor damage for several thousand miles with no problems. Your results may vary.
I figured that modern tires must have a high degree of damage tolerance. Most car owners are clueless and pay no attention to their tires. There must be thousands of cars on the road every day with similar or worse damage, and I never hear any reports of random catastrophic tire failure causing car crashes. I think the worst that will happen is that the tire goes flat in a benign way. So if you are willing to risk the small possibility of a flat, I say just drive it until the replacement arrives. Keep an eye on the sidewall weekly for signs the damage is progressing, like a bulge develops.
