If you had an issue with the reservoir/filter/dryer it would most likely be a blockage point leading no ac performance. It would probably appear frozen if you could get an eye on it. Yes they caution that it should not be exposed to air due to the desicant bag absorbing too much moisture. In reality it is almost never changed even when it should be. Most people change engines and open the system and never change it. Just think of how many engine removal and reinstalls happen on a daily basis. Sometimes they are left apart waiting for a part for a week or 2 and never have an issue. Good Luck, Bernie
