They redid the whole procedure with 1/2 hour of vacuum (and the proper mass of 650 g of R134) and the car is still showing the same symptoms (super high rad fan speed, very hot underhood, poor AC cold in car). The new expansion valve is an UAC EX10383C and the evaporator is a TYC 97245 (from Rockauto). Both parts are 9-3 specific.
So unless their scale is way off, the problem lies elsewhere. The only other bit I can replace without degassing the systeme is the high side pressure switch.
When I hooked Tech2 for the first time after noticing the poor cold inside the cabin, I had a DTC for this sensor (P0532 if memory's right...). I cleared the code and nothing since. So it was presumably reading low because of the loss of charge, not because it has failed.
What's the role of that high side pressure switch? Just a safety cut-off or has it a another role?
